Our Funding Eligibility guidelines provide information about who is eligible for funding from The Goizueta Foundation.
The Foundation provides funding to organizations within the 11-county metropolitan Atlanta area, including the following counties:
- Cherokee
- Clayton
- Cobb
- DeKalb
- Douglas
- Fayette
- Forsyth
- Fulton
- Gwinnett
- Henry
- Rockdale
The Goizueta Foundation reserves the right to fund organizations which may fall outside the geographic parameters listed.
In general, The Goizueta Foundation does not fund:
- Annual fund drives or membership drives
- Capital campaigns
- Event or conference sponsorships
- General operating expenses
- Government agencies
- Grants to individuals
- International organizations
- Legislative or lobbying associations
- Political campaigns
- Religious organizations and/or religious orders
We also do not fund organizations that provide the following services:
- Advocacy
- Affordable housing
- Animal protection and wildlife preservation (including zoos and aquariums)
- Arts organizations
- Camps
- Churches, religious organizations, and/or religious orders
- Civil rights and social action
- Community improvement (including community action agencies and Chambers of Commerce)
- Conservation and environmental causes (including environmental education, gardens, and nature centers)
- Counseling and crisis intervention
- Disaster relief
- Food, nutrition, and agriculture
- Fraternal and veterans organizations
- Homeless services
- Hospitals and healthcare
- Individual public schools (including single-site charter schools)
- Recreational and social clubs

Please note that some grants may be made at the discretion of individual Board Members.
The Foundation does not award scholarships to individuals. In prior years, the Foundation has established endowments at various K-12 and higher-education institutions that award need-based financial aid directly to students. Also, a separate Goizueta Legacy Scholarships program has been established for children of employees of The Coca-Cola Company.
While the Foundation strives to help organizations across Metropolitan Atlanta achieve success, we typically partner with established organizations that have strong leadership, established and active boards of directors., and a demonstrated record of financial stability.

We accept applications on a rolling basis. Organizations may complete the Online Application at any time.
All organizations will be notified in writing of the Foundation’s funding decision after applications are reviewed. If your application is approved, program staff will contact you directly to discuss partnership ideas.
The online application is the first step in the application process. If your application is approved, program staff will contact you to collaborate in the development of a formal proposal that the Foundation’s Board of Directors will then review.
Please review our Application Process for more information. Program staff continuously responds to all online applications on a regular basis. While the review time varies with each request, the Board of Directors’ reviews invited proposals twice per year. Organizations are notified of a decision immediately following the May and November Board of Directors meetings.
No. Because of time and staff limitations, all discussions are initiated by program staff.
Please review our Funding Eligibility, which includes information about our Strategic Focus and Shared Values, as well as our Strategic Priorities. We look at these factors closely when determining whether to partner with an organization.
The Foundation most often awards three-year grants, however this may vary on a case-by-case basis.
Organizations that receive funding should refer to their original grant agreements. Eligibility requirements are updated annually. Organizations that have been declined funding are encouraged to review the Foundation’s Funding Eligibility Guidelines carefully before reapplying.
The Goizueta Foundation does not automatically renew grants. Once an existing grant has been closed, organizations may contact the Foundation to discuss subsequent funding opportunities.

Both The Goizueta Foundation and The Coca-Cola Company Foundation exist as a result of the success of The Coca-Cola Company under the leadership of Roberto C. Goizueta. However, The Coca-Cola Company Foundation is a corporate philanthropic organization, while The Goizueta Foundation is a private family foundation founded by Roberto C. Goizueta.
Although named for our founder, Roberto C. Goizueta, the Goizueta Business School is a division of Emory University and separate from the Goizueta Foundation.
